Illegal drug use is an enormous, worldwide social problem, and among the many methods used by police and other civic organizations to try and curb this problem are drug free slogans. These types of slogans, aimed at children and adults alike, can have a tremendous positive impact on both those who are currently using recreational drugs and on those who are at an “experimental” age and thinking about trying drugs for the first time. The effectiveness of these drug free slogans is immeasurable, largely because it’s impossible to know the precise factors that dissuaded an individual from using drugs, but research shows that the use of some of the more common drugs, such as marijuana and alcohol, have steadily decreased each year since the official war on drugs began in the mid 1980s. And according to many polls and surveys, this is especially true in those who are most at risk—impressionable teens.
